My Yoga Journey

I started grad school around Labor Day and by Thanksgiving I was wishing I hadn’t. The adjustment was difficult for me.

I had been a dancer from age four through college, and I turned to movement to help me cope. I fell in love with yoga. In particular, I followed Lesley at Fightmaster Yoga. Yoga helped me deal with the stress of my PhD and life in general.

Early in grad school, I decided that I would go on a yoga retreat to celebrate when I graduated. Just me sipping smoothies and doing yoga on a beach somewhere. I saved my money and brought this image to mind to keep going on (many) tough days.

As life would have it, 2020 had other plans, including the passing of my dear teacher Lesley. So when I graduated, I joined a Yoga Teacher Training in her honor and in place of my retreat on a beach. (Don’t worry. I’ll get there one day!)

In the meantime, it turns out that I love teaching yoga – sharing this practice and way of living that has been lifechanging for me. Contrary to popular belief, yoga is not about the pose – it’s so much more.
